Bluehost is one of the very old providers we have tried. It used to be very good initially and due to some bad experiences with uptime, we had moved to another host. With their recent improvements, we decided to give them chance again. But looks like things have become worse, not just in performance but with their support as well.

Recently, we found that Bluehost has now an India site that will accept payments in INR and hence you don't have to pay any dollar conversion fee. They have also introduced some new concepts like Dev Cloud and Cloud sites. Cloud Sites boasts of a higher performance than regular shared hosting. So we decided to give a chance again and we took the best of Cloud Sites option they have: Business Pro. However, the experience till now was not so great.

We are trying to migrate an existing site from other host to Bluehost. As part of the process we are currently trying to upload the mysql database through phpmyadmin. It has been failing for some time. Even after trying for multiple times, we are getting error similar to below:

Script timeout passed, if you want to finish import, please resubmit same file and import will resume.

The size of zip file is 1.93 MB and the allowed size displayed in the screen is 500MB. We have tried importing again and again as suggested for quite some time, but getting the same error.

To check if it is a limitation of the MySQL or due to any syntax issues in latest MySQL version, we tried uploading the same on another server hosted with another provider (siteground) and to our surprise the upload worked in just few seconds.

We tried connecting to their live chat after logging in. But it did not even connect and got below error:

livechat.myorderbox.com took too long to respond.

So we decided to write here and mail them this link.

We have mailed to support@bluehost.com and support@bluehost.in, and got an immediate response:

You've attempted to email the Support Department directly. Unfortunately, this
inbox isn't monitored.

We encourage you to look at our knowledge base...

In some time, we also got another mail that a ticket has been generated automatically: Ticket ID: KSR-994-89702.

Update on 24-09-2016

No reply still and sites were down for long with below error:

PDOException: SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) in lock_may_be_available() (line 167 of/home2/ososymhi/public_html/spiritualhope/includes/lock.inc).

We called up customer care around 9AM IST and the customer care represenative has simply said this is not a bluehost server issue and also agreed that we may go to consumer court. She simply asked to raise a ticket, but seeing the status of above ticket, I don't think it will never be processes. So we even mentioned the older ticket.
