Honda Car Service - With Expensive Service, Is It Wrong To Expect Some Quality and Assurance?

Status:

I have given my car for a minor body repair work on the rear bumber at a Honda Service center (Whitefield Honda, ITPL Main Rd, Garudachar Palya, Mahadevapura, Bengaluru) and they said they will do service as well as it was 6 months from my previous service. I never knew at that time, it was my biggest mistake to ask them to service as well. The car was working fine and had no issues before service, but not after service.

Honda service is always expensive and 6 months service makes it worse. Cost would have been ok if the quality of service were any good. Forget quality, I wised they had not messed up with my car and battery. Even the car was not washed proper (you expect that at least when you pay 6K-10K for a service.

Whitefield Honda were telling the battery check was good before and even showed me a result sheet. But Honda road side assistance insisted either battery is dead or there is some problem with charging. During the initial check once my car was brought again to service center, I also noticed that one of the connections to the battery (right side) was completely lose (marked in the picture) and they were quickly making it tight. I am not sure if that was the issue, but they are not going to tell me anyway. When I asked if that was the issue they said they need to analyze.

I lost money and an umbrella too. My kid used to keep all her savings within a purse. I did not know it was there in the car and hence forgot to remove it. They took it and put in locker according to them, but when I got it back all the money was gone, except two one rupee coins. I had even lost my pen-drive last time. Anyway I can't blame as I was the one who left it there.

But this time I also lost an umbrella, which was accounted for. This was gifted to me by my mother after coming from UK. This was kept by them in their safe. They simply wrote within my bill that missing umbrella and said will update next day, but nothing happened. So they have thieves inside and now they acknowledge it too.

I had first suspected if they have replaced my battery too, as with my other times. One of the letter of battery serial number from my service book and actual battery fitted were different, but they said it would be a typo.

This experience has given me strong signals against trusting Honda again for my next car, which I was planning to upgrade soon. With the higher cost of maintenance than most other car brands, I expect Honda to have better quality standards and some honesty too. No one would expect their car to stop working after hours of service, and that too a car with no problems before the service.

Updates

I had sent mail with screenshots within half hour after service to customer_relation@whitefieldhonda.com and noone replied back even after a day. My car won't start now as the battery won't charge. So gave it back at service center. I had got the car after 10 days and now back again. Will wait and see how things proceed. Don't know how much they will be charging me now.

I have also shared this on their twitter account as well: @HondaCarIndia.

Service center called me and said that the battery is not charging. The same battery as per their records (they said it was tested by machine) was perfect. However, they still does not have an answer for what happened. I was facing issues as soon as I left the service centre with very low hone volume. They are also not commenting on whether this happened because they did not fit the battery connections properly. Note thet tighten the connection only when I bought the car back.

Service advisor said he will get back after checking the price of new battery.

Service advisor called and told the cost of the battery. They agreed to take in old battery for Rs. 400 discount whereas outside shops were offering Rs. 1000 discount. Said it might be costly than outside, but they will take care of any issues for four years. Still they are clueless on what happened ( or are not admitting their mistake) so that a battery they certified as in good condition, went to dead within hours of service.
