Review Blog For The Common Citizens
Customer was not allowed to migrate to prepaid from postpaid multiple times by the same idea store. After the first incident, he complained to the customer care. They said he can migrate after initial 90 days and even gave a mail confirmation. However, even after 90 days the store insists that they will not do, even after customer shows them the mail. So customer is left with no option, but to port. He has also recorded the conversations, posted in youtube and have shared the link here for proof.
Customer wanted to migrate from IDEA postpaid in Bangalore mainly for following reasons. There were long running billing disputes including being charged for two plans in a month, offered internet works free only in 4G and 2G (as Idea seems to not have 3G in Karnataka) and you get charged from base back when in 3G signal areas. You also cannot say to change plan from next billing cycle; needs to say on the exact date. Most of these would not be an issue in prepaid. Moreover prepaid has very good offers compared to postpaid. If you don't use much calls or internet, then Airtel or Jio are best: both provides plans with internet and calls at only Rs.149.
Youtube video of conversation with store people who denies migration against customer care mail:

As he was denied migration and couldn't find any good plans, he sent the port request. To be frank, he is afraid to stay in this network. Writing this post, hoping it will reach the management. If you simply go a Google search for the idea store Marathahalli, you will find it all. Looks like they have made some effort from their side to increase the rating through people they know, still it has reached only 2.2.
History: This is not the first issue I am facing; a history can be found going to below url:
Waiting for a reply from Idea on all questions.
One lady called and said about Rs. 499 plan, with a rental discount of 100 or 6 months making it 399. The person in Idea store (as seen in the video) even told about a retention offer of 1 GB per day, which can be used in 3G as well, after 3-4 days, or Rs. 349. Customer care retention team seems to not heard about it. They asked him to wait for 48 hours so that the store will call back and apologize. They also said he can migrate to prepaid and get 252 or 350 plans as first recharge after migration.
Update on 16th May 2017
Got call from social media team and they said they will escalate the issue. So decided to wait for one more day.
Update on 19th May 2017
Three days passed. Did not receive any call from the My Idea Store as promised by the retention team.
But had received another communication yesterday night:
Dear Customer, your request for UPC for Mob.No. XXX has been processed successfully. through Communication Id C1-90623094773. Thank you for continuning with our services.
I called up customer care and they said there is nothing updated for this communication id and I am free to port.
But later, email support called and asked me i I could accept one of their counter offers. Looks like the telephonic support doesn't have any target to retain customers. for them, the easiest thing to do is to let customers port, so that they do not have to explain much things.
Interistingly, IDEA customer support and store were better in Kerala. So I decided to PORT out of Karnataka anyway. They do not want customers, so who would still want to stick to them.
I have provided the documents to IDEA prepaid store in Kerala and got a message from IDEA that, your port our request has been received and will be actioned by 25th May 2017. I am not sure, why they need 1 week for migrating to same provider in another zone.
Anyway my hard journey with IDEA Karnataka is coming to an end. If anyone would want to have a quick look at the events that led me to this decision, please refer to this tags links: http://criticscloud.com/tags/idea-cellular.
Final Update (24/5/2017)
Mobile number has been ported to IDEA Prepaid Kerala through regular porting (MNP) process.
