This is a very bad news for Xiomi MI and Redme Phone Users. WhatsApp Stops Working in MIUI 9. It shows a mssage: This version of WhatsApp became obsolete on 13-Jan-2018. Please go to the Google Play Store to download the latest version.

However, when you go to Google Play store it doesn't show an update option. We even tried uninstalling and installing, but with no help. We tried it on an Mi Max Prime as well as a recent Redmi Note 4.   We have also send a query to service.in@xiomi.com.

Solution

We got following solution from MI Support and it worked. Do not upgrade or install from Google play store. Download and install directly from the apk @ https://www.whatsapp.com/android/
